About the Item

Vintage German pair of World War Two D.F. 10x80 Luftwaffe binoculars on stand with manufactured code of DKL made by Joseph Schneider & Co, Kreuznach, Germany, circa 1939 in date. D.F. stands for Doppelfernrohr, which is German for "double telescope." The polished steel rangefinder flak binoculars were used to locate enemy aircraft and direct accurate anti-aircraft flak fire artillery at them and they were also used on U-boats and fortifications. Made in polished steel and aluminium, with ribbed adjustable lens housings and a horizontal adjusting knob, the right side stamped ‘D.F.10X80’, with maker's code DKL. Condition: In excellent original condition with the original lenses, please see photos for confirmation.   Dimensions in cm: Height 136 cm x Width 97 cm x Depth 97 cm  - Lowest Setting Height 202 cm x Width 97 cm x Depth 97 cm  - Highest Setting Dimensions in inches: Height 4 foot, 5 inches x Width 3 foot, 2 inches x Depth 3 foot, 2 inches - Lowest Setting Height 6 foot, 7 inches x Width 3 foot, 2 inches x Depth 3 foot, 2 inches - Highest Setting These 10x80 Flak binoculars were indeed mostly used for finding enemy aircraft, determine their location and direct anti-aircraft artillery their way.
