Cesar, Graphic Experiences, French Book by Frederic Ballester and Jean Ferrero

About the Item

César, Experiences Graphiques (César, Graphic Experiences) is a French book by Fredreic Ballester and Jean Ferrero, published in 2015, from the Jean Ferrero Inedits Collection. This is a selection of 150 reproductions of works created by the sculptor César between 1960 and 1998, during trips to Nice to visit his friend, the photographer and collector Jean Ferrero. These graphic creations on paper are based on drawing and assemblages of objects and materials. This book from the Unpublished Works - Jean Ferrero collection, Frédéric Ballester (text), and Jean Ferrero (photographs) comprised of more than 150 works by César, small and medium formats, created between 1960 and 1998, this is an atypical creation by a sculptor, a major artist of 20th-century contemporary art, renowned for his compressions. During his travels to Nice, at Jean Ferrero's, this creation was realized in the intimacy of a corner of his studio, in one of his storage rooms. The sculptor engages in graphic experiments as part of an intimate research. This mixed work on paper, around drawing, is presented in compositions created from assemblages of various objects and materials found randomly from wild salvage. Assembled in an uncertain functionality, the objects, in their diversity, rub shoulders at the heart of the composition with a drawing of a surrealist spirit and skillful dexterity, a sort of self-portrait delivered in derision and which traces the entire mythology of the sculptor. This is a beautiful coffee table art book. About Jean Ferrero Collection: Acquired since the 1960s, the works in the Jean Ferrero collection were created during the second half of the 20th century, around the New Realists and the School of Nice, of which Jean Ferrero was a key figure. The collection focuses primarily on the works of Arman, César, Martial Raysse, Rotella, Ben, Farhi, Malaval, and numerous artists encountered during these surprising photographic adventures. Secret and Unusual Paris, French Book by Rodolphe Trouilleux, 2003

Paris Secret et Insolite (Secret and Unusual Paris), French book by Rodolphe Trouilleux. Under the cobblestones, surprises: forgotten dead-ends, a cloister converted into workshops, a real-fake medieval house, the slabs of the guillotine, a 17th-century metro, a mineral water fountain, a tiny house, a miraculous Vespasian, a chapel in spare parts, Russian isbas, hidden gardens, revolutionary inscriptions, a forgotten cannonball, a working-class town in the upscale neighborhoods, a fashionable ox, abandoned convents, a washhouse facade, a bastion on the fortifications, an itinerant chapel, a pierced castle, sleeping villas, a lemon tree in a telephone booth, that's Paris! The French capital has not finished revealing its mysteries: a Palladian villa, a 15th-century tower, an acclimatization square, rats nibbling on a facade, an old Protestant cemetery, a medieval sign...
