Danese Milano 1957-1971: Produzione

About the Item

Manufacturer’s catalog for Danese Milano showcasing the production work (produzione) from the years 1957-1971. Co-founded by Bruno Danese in 1957, the eponymous company quickly became a sine qua non of Italian Rationalist design, turning out high-quality, reasonably priced products and art multiples designed by in-house artists Enzo Mari and Bruno Munari, along with peers such as Franco Meneguzzo and Angelo Mangiarotti. A pioneer in the domestic use of ABS and PVC plastics, Danese also produced designs in stainless steel, marble, and ceramic—all through processes involving rigorous analysis and industrial techniques. The catalog itself, designed by Elio Mari based on its predecessors by Enzo Mari, is a triumph of style, quality, and content, with its straightforward typography and iconic logo on the heavy board cover and its clean but visually powerful interior layout of text and photography. Square 8vo (8.25” x 8.25”), thick printed boards with printed canvas spine, 160 pages, fully illustrated in black-and-whiter. Scarce and desirable.
