Fernand Léger by Carolyn Lachner. New York: The Museum of Modern Art, 1998. First edition hardcover with dust jacket. 303 pp. A book on the works of Joseph Fernand Henri Léger (1881-1955) a French artist who's early works were a personal form of cubism which he gradually modified into a figurative, populist style. He is regarded as a forerunner of pop art. The book includes a history of his early years in Paris and his influence by American modernism. It includes 217 illustrations with 67 in color that show all the stages of his styles in chronological order.
