First on the Moon: A Voyage with Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. by Gene Farmer and Dora Jane Hamblin. Signed by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Original dust jacket and presented in a custom leather and cloth clamshell. The book was published in 1970 and this specific volume has been signed on the title page by astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. The book includes an epilogue by Arthur C. Clarke with photographs throughout. The book depicts the famous Apollo 11 voyage into space that culminated with July 20th 1969 moon landing, the first manned voyage to the moon's surface. There have been six manned U.S. landings (between 1969 and 1972) and numerous unmanned landings. To date, the United States is the only country to have successfully conducted manned missions to the Moon, with the last departing the lunar surface in December 1972. The book goes into great detail of this feat, from the earliest preparations to the final touchdown back on Planet Earth. Dora Jane Hamblin was a gifted writer who wrote for Life magazine during its heyday. One of her projects, from February 1967 to December 1969, was to cover the cutting-edge U.S. space program from Houston. She conducted interviews with astronauts and their families to gain accurate information for her writing. She also explained the brand new space technology in a comprehensive way for her readers, who were fascinated. This resulted in this book, written with Gene Farmer, that detailed the Apollo 11 mission. The authors collaborated with the astronauts themselves to produce a true and accurate representation of the Apollo 11 mission. Published in Boston: Little, Brown, and Company, 1970. Book Club Edition. Condition: Overall very good condition. Slight wear visible on corners with a few tears to dust jacket. Pages are in good condition with minimal foxing or stains. Signatures on title page are in bold ink, visible and clear. Book complete with its black and white original dust jacket with yellow title lettering. Book house in a custom clamshell case in light yellow with a photograph of an astronaut on the cover. Clamshell spine is beautifully detailed with gilt stars and tooling.
