Francine Del Pierre has moulded the precious earth in inexhaustibly diverse forms. She dedicates her keen eyes to details and delicate techniques to achieve the equilibrium of the forms, the equilibrium then expands to its extremities under her agile fingers. She employs a special technique called the “au colombin”, which allows the pottery wheel to work in a way to convey the specificities and nuances of the textures and forms.
Del Pierre has had a remarkable career in her lifetime, with a major exhibition at Musée de Sèvres, and group exhibitions with celebrated masters such as Shōji Hamada and Bernard Leach in Hamburg and Caracas. This catalogue was published along with a retrospective that was being held at Musée des Beaux-Arts de Caen, many of the stunning works included had never been revealed before this catalogue’s publication.
