Signed and inscribed 1st edition hardcover with dust jacket. 201 pp. An examination of the lives and works of ten pioneering female artists over the last century. Artists whose self-representational art opened up new vistas on the female experience. Includes; Frida Kahl, Charlotte Salomon and others who used their art to overcome personal obstacles to make a dramatic statement on her social works and personal history. The author is both a psychoanalyst and art critic who reveals interesting psychological sensibilities on the women's self-representation.
