Antique Croquet Rule book by John Jacques.
A rare early Croquet 'Laws and Regulations' book by John Jaques. Published in 1865 with illustrated diagrams and engravings. This is the second publication undertaken for the ensuing season with modifications of, and additions to, the minor laws of the game. The book is bound in green cloth covered with thin card covers with an embossed design and gilt title and a picture of a lady playing croquet. A rather special book for the croquet connoisseur. Croquet, The Laws and Regulations Of The Game, with A Description Of The Implements, etc. etc. Illustrated With Diagrams And Engravings. By John Jaques, New Edition, Thoroughly Revised. London: Jaques And Son, 102, Hatton Garden. Sold Also By Longman, Green, Longman, Roberts, And Green. 1865. (The Right of Translation is reserved). Contents are:- Preface, Introduction, The Croquet Ground, The Implements For Playing Croquet, The Arrangement Of The Hoops, General Directions, Laws of the Game, poem which appeared in the pages of Punch, croquet price list & adverts to the rear.
