About the Item
This book features many fine examples of Venini glass, a company who were undoubtedly one of the most important glass makers of the 20th century.
The 20th century is characterized by a rise in the decorative arts, no longer considered as a craft activity but as an artistic one. they now meet with public approval and have their place in museums.
It is in this context that Venini remains for the whole world, the largest Venetian glassware of this century.
The extraordinary inventive capacity developed in the technical field at the end of the 1940s and in the 1950s, as well as the enormous success aroused by the design of Venini objects, were largely at the origin of this strong international interest in Venetian glass.
The novelty of the techniques used gives Venini's objects a unique, inimitable character, at the risk of eclipsing his previous production (from 1925 to the Second World War), and places his works at the height of artistic expression.
With text in french, including a brief resume of some of the great artists such as Carlo Scarpa, Tyra Lundgren and Tomasso Buzzi. 175 colour photographs plus a small number in black & white. 219 pages. 1260 grams.
