DESCRIPTION: SECOND EDITION PRESETATION COPY. 1 vol., illustrated with diagrams, inscribed by Dodgson on the half-title "D. G. Ritchie, from the Author. June 13, 1896.", bound in the publisher's original black lettered brick red cloth, inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spine fine, ink notes to last blank endleaf possibly in the hand of Ritchie, overall VERY GOOD.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Not located in "Dodgson at Auction".
David George Ritchie (1853-1903) was a Scottish philosopher who was a fellow of Jesus College, Oxford before becoming a tutor at Balliol College. in 1894 he left Oxford having been elected Professor of Logic and Metaphysics at St. Andrews. He must have been at St. Andrews by the time that Carroll inscribed this book to him.
