The New Pewter Marks and Old Pewter Ware by Major C.A. Markham. Published by Reeves and Turner, London, 1928. 2nd Ed hardcover with protective mylar cover. Profusely illustrated with b&w photographs, reproductions, marks. The title page: "Including Sections on the History of the Pewterer's Craft, Statutes, Ordinances, etc., relating to Pewterers from A.D. 1348. The Manufacture and Composition of Pewter Ware as well as its Cleaning and Repairing. Description of some 1,100 Marks or Touches, and Facsimilies of 200 from the original copper plates of the Pewterers' Company, London." Considered to be the bible of pewter.
