This was the first Kay Scarpetta novel and is an important 'Collector's Copy' of an important mystery debut. Only about 6000 were printed and many were purchased by libraries. The book was awarded: Anthony Award Winner; a CWA Creasy New Blood Dagger; a Macavity Award Winner; and the Edgar Award Winner all for Best First Mystery Novel.
