About the Item

A rare, collectable, first edition, Salvador Dali art and recipe cookbook, 'Les Diners de Gala', 1971, Paris, France. (Copy/text is in English language.) A great piece to add to a collection or to start one. - Art, color photographs, illustrations - Index - 136 Recipes - Table of Contents - And more Introduction: "We would like to state clearly that, beginning with the very first recipes, LES DINERS DE GALA, with its recipes and its illustrations, is uniquely devoted to the pleasures of Taste; Don't look for dietetic formulas here." "We intend to ignore those charts and tables in which chemistry takes the place of gastronomy. If you are a disciple of one of those calorie-counters who turn the joys of eating into a form of punishment, close this book at once; it is too lively, too aggressive and far too impertinent for you." Publisher: FELICIE, Inc., New York Published: First Edition, English version, 1971 Author ("Conceived/materialized" by): Salvador Domenech Philippe Hyacinthe Dali, dedicated to his wife Gala. Printed and bound: Paris, France by master-printer Draeger Binding: Perfect-bound, hard-cover, four-color process Dust-Jacket: A strong card stock, embossed and covered with gold foil and black copy. A very well-made dustjacket that was/is expensive to produce. Layout and design direction by: Rene Toutain, in collaboration with Draeger and Max Gerard.

Cartier High Jewelry Exhibition Coffee Table Book, 1997
Located in New York, NY
CARTIER 1900 - 1939 Paris, London, New York. This special hard-cover book was published in honor of the exhibition, 'Cartier 1900 - 1939', held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, from April 2, 1997, through August 3, 1997, and the British Museum, London, from October 3, 1997, through February 1, 1998. This exhibition was organized jointly by the two museums. Foreword by: Dr. Robert G. W. Anderson, Director, British Museum "The firm of Cartier is widely recognized as one the world's greatest designers and manufacturers of jewellery and objects d'art. This exhibition is timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the founding of the company in Paris in 1847." Preface: Judy Rudoe, Department of Medieval and Later Antiquities, British Museum "Previous exhibitions devoted to Cartier have encompassed the entire period of the firm's history, from 1847 to the present. The aim of this exhibition is to take a fresh look at a more closely defined period, from around 1900, when the firm's distinctive style becomes identifiable, to the end of the 1930s, which saw a dramatic change of style that led to a quite different aesthetic." A gorgeous exhibition book highlighting the first four decades of the 20th century when the renowned Paris-based firm known as Cartier expanded to London and New York. Specially taken photographs present a breathtaking array of necklaces, bracelets, brooches, rings, as well as cigarette cases, clocks, and objects d'art. 450+ illustrations, 350 in full color. Salvador Dali Rare Hand Signed Midcentury Book A Study Of His Art In Jewels 1959
By Salvador Dalí
Located in Studio City, CA
A quite scarce and coveted hardcover book in slipcase - "Dali: A Study of His Art-In-Jewels (The Collection of the Owen Cheatham Foundation)". Bound into the book are color photographs of 28 jewels designed by Dali with comments and captions written by the artist himself. The book was published by The New York Graphics Society in 1959 - a quite collectible first edition/first printing (with no other printings noted) of the art book. The book is boldly hand-signed and dated (in the year of publication - 1959) by Dali on the lower corner of the first blank page/ front free endpaper. As such, exceedingly rare (we only know of two other existing copies, and only one was also signed in the year the book was published). A scarce signed edition. Would be a great addition to any collector of Dali's work or those who appreciate his fine art jewelry...
