About the Item
Rare set of sixteen (16) French books on the History of France by Heni Martin, printed in 1861, the 4th edition since the project was initially published in 1844. Leather hardcovers over gorgeous marbled endpapers, and gilt titles, condition as expected from age and use but still intact and legible. The text is in French, pages show spotty brown foxing. The legacy of Henri Martin continues to this day, honored with a street named after him in the 16th arrondissement of Paris where he was once mayor. Please view the detailed images.
