Tamara De Lempicka: Paris 1920-1938 by Gioia Mori (Book)

About the Item

Tamara de Lempicka is a phenomenon. It was of its time, it remains so today. In her time, in the Paris of the twenties and thirties, she brilliantly embodied a happy moment of artistic life and participated in a coterie for whom adventure was a real aesthetic of existence. Tamara was a prodigy of staging, in whom the elegance and art of bewitching men and women, inherited from the seducers of the eighteenth century, were combined with modern and feminist positions. Her life lends itself admirably to the elaboration of a legend - wandering, worried, shared between Europe and the Americas: from Poland, where she was born in 1898, to Russia; then from St. Petersburg to Paris. From 1918 to 1939, while living in Paris, her second and third homeland was Italy, where she frequently went and worked sporadically in Germany. Then she leaves for America: from the East Coast to the West Coast, from New York to Hollywood. And finally, Mexico and Cuernavaca, retirement of tired billionaires, where she died in 1980 in memory of her glory and her loves. This book focuses more specifically on Tamara's painting: a real police investigation that has borne fruit - unpublished information, unknown paintings, cleared enigmas. 287 pages. 1550 grams.

Paris 1925, French book by Armand Lanoux, published by Editions Robert Delpire, Paris in 1957. 1925, which only raised sarcasm yesterday, softened suddenly. We say retro for the fiftieth anniversary of the Decorative Arts. OK, go retro! Joséphine Baker, Charlot, la Violettera, bell bottoms, the threepenny franc, and Valentino reappear in our mythology. Einstein's surrealism, Picasso the Augustus and Cocteau the White Clown, Stravinsky, and Freud have not left her. With the lamé shirt...

"The Faberge´ of our time." —Diane von Furstenberg. Volume I showcases a selection of the jewels made since the shop's founding in 1978 up to "The Jewels of JAR - Paris" exhibition, held at Somerset House in London (November 2002 - January 2003.) Volume II presents a selection of works created between 2002 and up to JAR's exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2014. About JAR Since opening JAR in 1978, with the help of his Swiss friend Pierre Jeannet, Joel Arthur Rosenthal, has become one of the world's most sought after jewellery designers. A native New Yorker, Rosenthal moved to Paris after graduating from Harvard and has lived in the city for most of his adult life. He experimented in scriptwriting and then needlepoint, opening a shop where he experimented with unusually coloured yarns. It's clientele included designers from Herme`s and Valentino. Rosenthal was one day asked if he could design a mount for a gemstone, setting his career in a new direction. His signature includes setting gems in pave arrangements, so finely wrought as to be virtually invisible. Rosenthal uses...
