DESCRIPTION: SECOND EDITION. 1 vol., 12-5/8" x 8-1/2", (xii)528pp.(viii), bound in contemporary full dark brown speckled calf over cords, covers ruled in blind, neatly rebacked at some earlier date, gilt lettered brown morocco spine label. CONDITION: Head and foot of spine renewed, back corners renewed, textblock edges sprinkled red and brown, engraved heraldic bookplate of Albert R. Graves to front pastedown, internally clean and bright, A FRESH COPY. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Originally published in 1675. Includes "Nicholas Machiavel’s letter to Zanobius Buondelmontius", not in fact by Machiavelli but by Henry Neville. Includes: The History of Florence; The Prince; The Discourses of Nicholas Machiavel, Upon the First Decade of Titus Livius; and The Art of War. Each with a separate title page with imprint "printed for R. Clavel, Cha. Harper, Jonathan Robinson, Joh. Amery, A. and J. Churchil, MDCXCIV."
