1893 Gold full Sovereign - Queen Victoria

This is an 1893 gold Sovereign with the portrait of Queen Victoria, featuring the traditional George and Dragon design and provided in a plastic capsule. The M mintmark denotes the Melbourne Mint in Australia. Manufacturer: Royal Mint Weight (grams): 8.00 Fineness: 916.7 Dimensions: Diameter: 21 mm; Thickness: 1.52mm Queen Victoria reigned over the United Kingdom from 1837 until her death in 1901, making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history at the time. Born in 1819, she ascended to the throne at the age of 18, following the death of her uncle, King William IV. Victoria's reign, known as the Victorian Era, was characterized by significant social, economic, and political change, including the Industrial Revolution, the expansion of the British Empire, and the rise of the middle class. She married her cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in 1840, and they had nine children together. Albert played a crucial role in advising Victoria and supporting various social and cultural initiatives, earning him the title of Prince Consort. However, his untimely death in 1861 plunged Victoria into deep mourning, and she withdrew from public life for a time.
