About the Item

Charles X dance card in mother of pearl with gilt bronze mounts. It is engraved with plants, flowery interlacing, and bouquets of flowers. An enameled pansy adorns the cover, a typical motif of Palais-Royal objects. It has its original paper and pencil. This notebook, used by women to record who they intended to dance with at balls, is typical of luxury objects sold in the Palais-Royal boutiques in Paris during the French Restoration. Very beautiful quality of the chasing and engraving, Circa 1820 Dimension: W 1.8 in, D 0.4in, H 2.2 in. Dimension: L 4.5 cm, D 1 cm, H 5.5 cm.
