About the Item
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, complete with original key for working lock, and the interior fitted chip trays and card storage compartments. All you need are the cards. The boulle work is extra nice on this one, incorporating the dark ebony along with the brass and etc., against the burled exotic wood surface. There is one notable flaw, and that is a shrinkage crack in the exotic wood top, intersecting the bottom 10% or so of the cartouche. It runs nearly the width of the box's lid, and does not run through to the interior on about half of that width. Really more a mark of its age, after all, it comes to us from the era 1840-70. Wood so beautiful, it begs the touch!
