About the Item

Solar Fire Make: Williams Date of Built: Juli 1981 Designer: Barry Oursler Artwork: Constantino Mitchell Number made: 782 Origin: Stockholm, Sweden One of rarest and sought-after Williams pinball machines of the early 80’s. And this huge interest in that machine within the pinball scene has some good reasons: the artwork features a beautiful, very intense and colorful outer space theme. It has a very deep and clever rule set for that era and offers some very unique features: the “solar gun” feature which once activated warps the captured ball around at an immense speed, and a “magna save” feature which allows the skilled player to save the balls from draining using magnets. On top of that it is packed with other features: a split level playfield, 4 flippers, multiballs, loads of drop targets, kick out holes and ramps. Sound wise it offers a spacey, electronic sound set that matches the theme perfectly. We’ve been chasing this Solar Fire game for years till we found one in pretty bad shape in Stockholm. We entirely rebuild it from scratch: we managed to get the original stencil files and restored the cabinet to its original condition with the exact colors. The playfield has been repainted by hand and airbrush and it has been lacquered with 15 layers and polished to a high end finish. All external metal work has been chromed to a very high finish. We found a new back glass in mint condition. The plastic set is an original NOS (new old stock) set which we found in Australia. All ball guides on the playfield polished to mirror finish. We partially installed LED’s to create an even more spacey atmosphere. The power supply board is a brand new reproduction. All other playfields parts are in mint condition – most of them are new: flippers, star posts, drop targets, metal posts. Apart from the fact that it’ll be though enough to find another solar fire anywhere you surely won’t find any Solar Fire in this condition – a true one off.
