King Charles III Childhood Collection
About the Item
A unique collection of King Charles III memorabilia from his childhood - impossible to recreate
Superb provenance: sourced from the collection of Mr George Crisp, the personal barber to the Royal Family from 1929 to 1971
The collection features:
A lock of Prince Charles’ black hair: Kept securely by Mr Crisp as a reminder of his time with the Prince. This is the only piece of Charles’ hair ever offered for sale. A unique artefact. There is no more intimate a piece of of King Charles III memorabilia in existence.
A very early Prince Charles signature: Charles personally wrote this Christmas card to Mr Crisp, likely in the early-mid 1960s. We know of only one earlier Charles signature. The signature is clear and handsome. And so different from his adult signature.
Mr Crisp’s barbering scissors and comb: Almost certainly used by Mr Crisp to cut Charles’ hair. (Mr Crisp had stored the scissors and comb together with the lock of hair and Christmas card - indicating in the same collection as the lock of hair.) Both show signs of use. The scissors feature a French maker's mark; the brown plastic comb bears the maker's mark of Kent of London (model 13T). Kent holds the Royal Warrant for hairbrushes in the UK.
The collection also includes:
A March 1971 invitation to the Palace from the Queen, to thank Mr Crisp following his retirement that year.
Two newspaper cuttings detailing Mr Crisp's employment with the
