Antique Salter's Family Scale England Early 20th Century

Antique Salter's Family Scale, England, turn of the Century. Back when normal household items were designed to be beautiful. This scale by Salter is a true gem with a very distinct design and practical usability. The scale features a circular dial face with engraved numbers and fine measurement markings. The pan has a weathered patina, complementing the aged brass and blackened iron frame and the base is broad and sturdy, with subtle curved detailing. Salter, originally known as George Salter & Co., is a historic British company renowned for manufacturing high-quality weighing scales. Founded in 1760 in Bilston, England, the company started as a small family business. By the 19th and early 20th centuries, Salter had become a household name, known for producing kitchen scales, personal weighing machines, and trade balances. Their products were widely used in homes, grocery stores, and markets.
