TWO FRENCH GOLD INSIGNIA
France, Third Republic (1870-1951), National Order of the Legion of Honor, instituted in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte.
An 18 kt gold sash and breast badge, consisting of a five-pointed, double-pointed cross with a white enameled spherical tip, adorned with green enameled oak and laurel branches in each quadrant, the whole surmounted by an enameled oak wreath.
Assayed with the notation "eagle" (after 1838).
Approximate weight: 56.8 g. Dimensions: (height) 11.4; 6.7 cm.
