About the Item

- A beautiful black and white photograph signed by one of the 20th century's most important cultural icons This vintage black and white photograph features Walt Disney seated next to a large dog, and is signed and inscribed ""To Andy, All Best, Walt". The photograph was inscribed to Andy Engman (1911 – 2004), a renowned animator who worked for Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California from 1937 until 1971. He started his career as an uncredited 'In-Betweener' animator on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and later worked on Donald Duck and Goofy shorts, as well as features such as Fantasia and Pinocchio, before moving into management at the studio. The photograph is signed in black ink. The photo itself measures a vast 33 x 26.7cm (13" x 10.5") and is mounted to an overall size of 50.6 x 40.5cm (approx. 20" x 16"). Walt Disney (1901–1966) was a celebrated voice actor, animator, film producer and entrepreneur who became an American cultural icon. Having founded the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio in 1923, Disney rose to fame with the creation of Mickey Mouse and became a household name across the world. As a producer he pushed the boundaries of animation, releasing classics such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Dumbo and Fantasia, along with the Oscar-winning Mary Poppins. Disney currently holds the record for the number of Academy Awards won by an individual, having won 22 Oscars from 59 nominations. In 1955 Disney also established Disneyland, the most successful theme park ever built, which to date has attracted more than 650 million visitors. Walt Disney's films have entertained millions of viewers, influenced generations of film-makers, and Walt Disney Studios remains the most famous and successful entertainment company in the world.
