About the Item
The set consists of objects depicting owls, made of various materials and of various origins, but mainly traceable to the 20th century. The set consists of forty-two pieces, including specimens in: shell, wood, marble, ceramic, Murano glass, and crystal.
The owl is a highly prized object among collectors because of its symbolic and archetypal value: it is an auspicious nocturnal animal that is also often associated with knowledge. With this in mind, a few pieces stand out among others. For example, the candle holder in the shape of an owl holding a candle in its wings is interesting: it is like a protector of life, which is symbolized precisely by the candle. The two metal and wood bookends, on the other hand, recall the animal's connection to knowledge. There is also a bronze door handle and a small mirror.
