Kupjack Studios Sterling Silver Collectibles - Tiny Curated Set For the Writer

About the Item

For the Writer Sterling Silver Writer's Set* set includes: Candelabra with candles, Ink pots with quill, cup, blotting pad, tiny piece of paper, plexi-display case with display block. *Desk not included, coming soon. Available to order.* For the first time in over 30 years, we are thrilled to present three curated sets of sterling silver, rhodium-plated miniatures. Within the three sets, you will find something for the writer, the coffee drinker, and any special celebration. Using Eugene Kupjack’s original patterns from the Miniature Reproductions of Antique Silver set from the 1960s, Jay Kupjack has crafted three sets of 1/12 scale, tarnish-proof silver collectibles. Each set includes a plexiglass display case. The original set ceased production for the public in the 1980s, bringing us to this special reproduction decades later. In the 1930s, Mrs. Narcissa Niblack Thorne, also known as Mrs. James Ward Thorne, put her imagination to reality with the help of a group of skilled artisans in Chicago. Eugene Kupjack found himself among the group. Working alongside Mrs. Thorne, Eugene crafted intricate scenes historically based on American and European interiors from the 13th century to the 20th century. Each room was crafted at a 1:12 scale, containing handmade replicas of furniture, molding, household items, and rugs. For years, the miniatures have been an adored collection of artisan craft, transporting viewers into wondrous tiny spaces from centuries otherwise inaccessible. Eugene Kupjack’s sons Hank and Jay learned the art at his side while he worked with Mrs. Thorne. As the years passed, his sons were left to carry on the legacy of Mrs. Thorne's adored miniatures. The Kupjacks continued to build miniature rooms throughout the years, creating a select number to be sold to museums and collectors. As the last living member of the Kupjack family, Jay continues to work with the art of miniatures through new rooms, restorations on original works, and collectible sets such as The Miniature Reproductions of Sterling Silver.

Jim Rose Two-Door Housetop Weave Multi-Color Steel Quilt Pattern Cupboard
By Jim Rose
Located in Chicago, IL
This is a totally functional two-door cupboard. It is created from hot rolled steel and found steel. The legs are made from salvaged pipe. The panels on the door fronts and sides are made from salvaged pieces of steel with the original paint and texture making this modern Industrial aesthetic a model of sustainable design. The pattern is inspired by the Quilts of Gee's Bend Alabama. Prominent colors in this piece are tones of blue, black, gray and blue, gray and rust. There are two fixed shelves inside the cabinet. This piece is available as pictured. Jim Rose Two Door housetop quilt cupboard hot-rolled steel, found painted steel 42 H x 33 W x 17 D in 106.68 H x 83.82 W x 43.18 D cm JR0010 Jim Rose b. 1966 Bio: Born in Indiana, Jim Rose lived in Europe until he returned to the United States to attend college. After one year at Bard College, Jim transferred to the School of the Art Institute in Chicago (SAIC) where he graduated in 1988 with a BFA. His skillful interpretation of the Shaker design is a result of intense research and field study of Shaker furniture, architecture, culture and history. After over two decades of dedicated work, he has mastered the minimalism of the Shaker technique and created his own unique visual vernacular. The quilts of Gee's Bend have become a monumental influence taking this artist's work to new levels of unique interpretation and artistry. His selection of aged steel results in a patina directly related to that of aged wood while his colored strips beautifully mimic worn cloth. Each piece of furniture is masterfully made and intended for daily use. Jim Rose’s steel furniture is featured every year at SOFA Chicago for the past 25 years.
