Georgian Rare Steel Cased Tuning Fork
About the Item
A very unusual and rare Georgian antique steel cased tuning fork dating from around 1800. A wonderful piece of musical interest and history the tuning fork is made in similar shape to more modern pieces and is hand crafted from steel with a two pronged loop mounted on a turned and shaped handle with a small wide rounded end which allows it to stand on a flat surface and when the prongs are gently tapped the vibration creates the note. The tuning fork comes in its original fitted case. The tuning fork is not marked and while we have attributed it as possibly of British origin it could equally have originated from Continental Europe. None the less a rare and interesting item.
