1976 Curtis Jere Brass Wire Galleon Ship Sailboat Metal Sculpture Art
By Curtis Jeré
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Poised between abstraction and nautical biography, this Brutalist-era sailboat wall sculpture captures both movement and material poetry. The sail motif is rendered through sharp, torch-cut metal planes—perhaps of steel or brass—formed into stylized hull and sail configurations that evoke both architectural rigor and maritime fantasy. The industrial textures and patinated surface read like sculpture, offering a tactile narrative woven from mid-century modern artistry. While unsigned, this piece bears unmistakable echoes of the radical designs popularized by Curtis Jeré and Paul Evans. These designers translated rugged materials into flowing, expressive wall forms—and your sailboat composition resonates with that same kinetic energy and bold geometry. A comparable Jeré sailboat-themed wall sculpture from the 1970s, featuring layered metal sails and airborne birds, measures approximately 49" wide by 22" high and currently appears in the mid‑four‑figure range. The sculpture’s compact yet commanding dimensions—around 22" tall × 36–48" wide (approximate range based on visual proportions and comparable examples) —make it a dynamic accent that animates modern interiors without overwhelming. Despite handling over time, the finish offers a rich patina with preserved industrial authority, its archival unevenness adding character rather than compromise. This is more than wall art—it’s a statement in sculptural form: part Brutalist manifesto, part nautical daydream. In a gallery-like dark-hued foyer, a modern seaside lounge, or an edited architectural space, it commands both space and story. For collectors of Brutalist or mid-century metal expression, it offers rare emotional punch, deftly balancing elegance with edge. Huge, free standing metal...

Lighted Custom Made Modern Cherry Buffet Dry Bar With Wine Rack and Bar Cart
By Foster-McDavid, Arne Vodder, Brown Saltman, Jens Risom
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Please believe me when I say pictures don't this piece justice. The cherry wood shimmers and gleams with an almost indescribable Iridescence that looks like rivers of honey that form the ebbing and flowing grain. The tones and hues of the piece change depending on how the light hits it and where your eye catches it. You'll see amber, ochre, honey, and umber. We purchased this cabinet from the son of the original owners who had it custom made in the 1970's. Although it looks similar to the works to Jens Risom, Arne Vodder, and Brown-Saltman, this is a custom, made 1 of 1 credenza. There are many unique aspects to this piece that seem inspired by many designers of the period. A large cherry door on the left conceals open cabinet space with removable / adjustable shelves. The right has a faux-door panel that is made to resemble the one on the left. However, this faux-door is actually the front panel to a roll-out bar cart. This handsome server sports two drop-leaves that double its counter space. This mini buffet...

1960s Karel Appel Colorful Rhino and Monkey Framed Lithograph
By Karel Appel
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Bursting with expressive color and surreal whimsy, this lithograph by acclaimed Dutch modernist Karel Appel captures a seemingly playful encounter between a rhino and a monkey—yet there’s an undercurrent of the fantastical that stirs the imagination. The artist boldly integrated his plate signature directly into the image, a hallmark of Appel’s inventive approach that marries technique with artistry. On close inspection, the viewer discovers layers of translucent ink—each applied with intention, lending a glowing vibrancy and depth that animates the print. Dating to the charged aesthetic climate of the 1960s, this lithograph embodies the post‑CoBrA spirit—Appel’s embrace of freedom in form, raw emotional expression, and child‑like spontaneity. It’s a rare visual poem in which abstraction resonates like a primal call, while the pair of creatures—vaguely anthropomorphic yet purely expressive—emerge with an uncanny, emotional resonance. Measuring a commanding 30.25 inches in height (approximately 77 cm) and 22 inches in width (approximately 56 cm), with a frame depth of 0.75 inch (about 1.9 cm), the piece holds remarkable presence on the wall—inviting viewers to pause and explore. Its sizable scale enhances interpretation, encouraging the viewer’s gaze to move across the composition, catching the shifting balance between abstraction and figuration, between whimsical narrative and spontaneous form. The print arrives framed and ready to hang, preserving its integrity while remaining approachable to collectors and designers alike. The condition is consistent with age—well-maintained, with only minor wear that supports its provenance without diminishing impact. Born in 1921, Appel emerged as a founding member of the CoBrA avant-garde group—an incubator of radical creative thought intent on freeing art from formal constraints. His work would later find its way into the world's most prestigious collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, confirming his status in the canon of 20th-century modern art. This lithograph is more than a print—it is a dynamic fragment of art history, alive with expression, movement, and intuition. It speaks to collectors who prize narrative depth and emotional color, to curators seeking works that blur the boundaries between high modernism and expressive spontaneity.
