Metronome system Johan Maelzel (1772-1838) in wood from the early 1900s.

About the Item

Metronome system Johan Maelzel (1772-1838) from the early 1900s. This is an instrument used to measure the tempo of music; the sound of the pendulum accurately signals the speed of performance. The instrument consists of a pendulum with a counterweight that works with a clockwork mechanism with toothed wheels moved by a spring. The rod placed on the front equipped with a counterweight is operated by the clockwork mechanism, whose oscillations mark the passage of time. The instrument is housed in a box in the shape of a wooden pyramid that bears a brass plaque on the front and the name of the inventor the Austrian physicist Maelezel. Among the first to use this type of instrument was Ludwing van Beethoven. Good condition, signs of use, works for a short time. Measures 11x11x23 cm - 4.4x4.4x9 inches. Insured shipping with Lloyd's of London, free gift wrapping, see last photo.
