Brass 7-day winding nautical wall clock, signed S. Marti 1931.

About the Item

Nautical brass wall clock with 7-day spring winding, signed S. Marti Montbeliard Grand Prix Paris 1931, Samuel Marti was a renowned 19th century Parisian watchmaker . Diameter cm 16.8 - inches 6.7, depth cm 7.5 - inches 2.8. Overhauled and fully functional, marks on dial . A phosphorescent blue pigment is placed next to the hours and on the hands to allow the watch to be read even at night. In 1832 Samuel Marti established a watch factory with two partners, and in the 1841 became the sole owner of the Montbeliard factory located in northeastern France, a department that gave birth to many prestigious watchmakers. Marti regularly exhibited his watches at exhibitions in Paris, winning numerous awards.
