Brass Compass on Stand by Cassens and Plath, English

About the Item

A ship's brass English compass from a decommissioned lifeboat. This is made by Cassens and Plath, an English company. An important nautical navigational instrument used when underway. We had it mounted onto a Y-frame in order for it to continue to gimble. In working order. Circa 1970's. Originally these would have sat in a box and stored on the boat. We had it polished and mounted. Makes a great gift for the sailor or boater in your life. The Lockhart Collection is a personally curated gallery of antiques and fine jewelry, owned and operated by Deborah Lockhart Phillips. The antiques and vintage pieces encompass Nautical Artifacts & Instruments, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern Furniture and Lighting, British Campaign furniture, and of course the finds that simply defy being categorized.
