About the Item

Original and rare ship's brass compass converted to a side table which was designed by Deborah Lockhart Phillips. These compasses usually exist in a box on a lifeboat. We had them polished and then created a design so that the compass still gimbals. And the beveled glass top has recessed brass screws so that the entire top remains flush. The compass is still in working order. We found a few of this size compass, all of which are European and the only difference being the face graphics of the compass card and date to the 1970's. The Lockhart Collection is a personally curated gallery of antiques and fine jewelry, owned and operated by Deborah Lockhart Phillips. The antiques and vintage pieces encompass Nautical Artifacts & Instruments, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern Furniture and Lighting, British Campaign furniture, and of course the finds that simply defy being categorized. The Lockhart Collection is a notable and trusted resource for many interior designers and movie production companies. An affinity for the sea, spirit of adventure, a discerning eye and a belief in keeping life interesting, informs her style and therefore the collection. Deborah sources quality, one-of-a-kind and distinguished pieces; found both domestically and abroad and has done so for over 30+ years. Shop is located on Nantucket Island.
