Antique Gothic Altar Table Crucifix W. Hand Carved Gilt Cross & Corpus of Christ

About the Item

Perfectly hand crafted and great condition antique, Gothic church, wooden altar crucifix. This beautifully handcrafted, former church crucifix for table placement is a real eyecatcher, but its deeper meaning ofcourse makes this religious relic the collectible antique that it is. Especially for its age, the gilding on the cross is in amazing condition, but the other painted parts too are in remarkably good condition. The handcarved antique wooden corpus of Christ too is handpainted and it too is in mint condition. This piece is not signed, because especially in the 1800s most sculptors and artisans who dedicated their lifes to creating religious artifacts for churches and monasteries considered their talent to be god-given. Signing such an object was considered selfish (or work of the ego) and not spiritual at all. There are no chips or breaks or restaurations whatsoever. If (the life of) Jesus has a special place in your heart and if you already have a place in mind for this rare and remarkable antique (made in His honor) then maybe you should be its next custodian. Our fair price for this rare and perfectly hand-carved, Gothic Revival crucifix even includes perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 workdays. Maximum height x width x depth of this crucifix: 24.2 x 11.4 x 6.3 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish and meaningful and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).  You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

  • Gothic Dragons Base Wrought Iron Altar Crucifix with Bronze Sculpture of Christ

Unique table crucifix and a stunning work of religious art. For us the most powerful statement will always be 'the truth will set you free'. It is what we have learned most from the life of Christ and of His teachings and it is the one thing we always think about whenever we look at a crucifix. Anyone who has tried to break down his/her ego and found a clearer consciousness in the process knows how healing and rewarding that journey can be. After that you can only be grateful for all the good things that are bound to come your way. Good things will come you way, because the universe needs people like you. Both the beautifully designed and sizable wrought iron cross and the antique bronze corpus of Christ have an amazing patina and together they make this meaningful antique a true work of beauty. We had never before seen a wrought iron table cross and because of the coldness of the material and because it can be extremely time consuming to make one, it is not the first material of choice for most craftsman. However, when it is done with this kind of top quality workmanship then that changes everything. The sharpness of the details and the symmetry of the execution of this cross are second to none and what takes this Gothic altar...

  • Crucifix on Calvary, Called Plague of Christ, France, Early 18th Century
    Located in Milan, IT
Crucifix on Calvary, called 'Pestis Christi' or Crucifiix Pestis 'Plague of Christ' or Plague Crucifix). The sculpture is composite, made with heterogeneous materials: wax, wood, papier-mâché. The octagonal base is slightly raised and supports the calvary, symbolized by rocks, from which the crucifix rises, made with intentionally unfinished boards and with marked veins. The depicted Christ is peculiar: he shows scarified skin all over his body. Masterfully crafted in wax. They are the plagues of the plague that Christ, 'Agnus Dei' takes charge of with salvific value, for the salvation of the world. At his feet the ordeal full of symbols: evil (snake) with the apple, the 'Memento mori' of human bones...
