Collection of Six Silver Figurative Ex Voto Infant Child Antique Italy, 1900s
About the Item
A collection of six cute petite religious Ex Voto. I do not know what it is made of, thin and light filigree silver or silver plated metal. Each is handmade, embossed and then welded. Given the delicacy, I did not try to remove the tarnish and I think it gives the piece a beautiful statement and authenticity. The tallest one is approx. 10" high, 4.25" wide and 0.25" deep. The smallest one is approx. 5.13" high, 1.63" wide and 0.13" deep. Nice addition to your collection or just as a display item on your wall, Christmas tree or a wreath in your entry hall. Found at an Estate sale in Verona, Italy.
About Ex Votos:
An ex-voto is a votive offering to a saint or a divinity, given in fulfillment of a vow (hence the Latin term, short for ex voto suscepto, "from the vow made") or in gratitude or devotion. Ex-votos are placed in a church or chapel where the worshiper seeks grace or wishes to give thanks. The destinations of pilgrimages often include shrines decorated with ex-votos.
