Stylish Art Deco sanctuary lamp for you to use and enjoy. This early 20th century sanctuary lamp would have hung near the entrance of a house of worship. I was in Paris earlier this week and on either side of the entrance of the worldfamous Sacre Coeur there also are 2 sanctuary lamps of the same size, but of an earlier style/design (and nowadays most have been made electrical). This excellent condition and stunning Art Deco specimen comes with a solid oak, geometrical wall plate, a beautifully designed brass arm with a fine patina and the original and near mint, cranberry glass vessel. For those who did not know yet; most often some sand is put into the glass vessel and a candle is placed on top. This creates a beautiful, mystical and warm light in the space she is in. This glass vessel is extra practical, because of the flat base. You can simply take out the vessel, put it down and change candles. The light in a sanctuary lamp symbolizes (and is there to respect) god's ever presence. There is more meaning to it, but we won't go into that here. This beautiful, decorative, meaningful and timeless sanctuary lamp will look marvellous in an Art Deco, an Arts & Crafts, but also in a more contemporary interior. Again great value for money.
