Pair of 18th Century Italian Carved Giltwood Musician Cherub Sculptures
About the Item
These charming antique putti carvings were crafted in Italy, circa 1780. The hand carved figures depict two musicians cupids sited on a pillow form stool; one playing the flute, the other holding cymbals. Each sculpture features its original gold leaf finish for a luxurious result. The carved cherubs are expressive in their movement and feature wonderful facial expressions. The religious cherub ornaments are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn the original patinated gilt finish. The colorful sculptures would make a charming addition on a shelf in a study, or displayed on a table or buffet in a living room or den.
