Pair of antique English silver Judaica Rimonim or Torah Finials.
London, 1916
Measures : Height 28cm, diameter 9cm
These fine pieces of antique Judaica are a pair of Torah finials, also known as Rimonim, and were made in England in the early twentieth century.
They are hallmarked and datable to London, 1916; however, the makers' marks are unclear. Consisting of thin cylindrical stems, the central section of each consists of an intricate hollow framework of pierced panels, mounted with bells (a small number of which are missing) and surmounted with semi-hemispherical domes topped with silver-gilt eagles.
With a particularly pleasing combination of intricate, pierced silver panels, similar to silver filigree, and sections with silver gilt embellishments and ornamentation, they constitute a very fine pair of examples of these popular antique pieces.
