Rare and large antique bronze sculpture of our Lord Jesus.
This gorgeous and sizeable bronze sculpture is another one of our recent great finds. We have never seen a bronze holy heart sculpture of this large size and with these beautiful details. Because of its size this also makes this one of the heaviest bronze works of religious art that we ever had the pleasure of offering. Especially the serene facial expression and the superbly carved beard and hair of Christ reveal that this can only be the work of a seasoned sculptor. What makes this ecclesiastical antique extra special is that it is perfectly detailed all around (and not just the front), which is why this also makes a great centerpiece or altar piece. Also, for safer transport / shipment this church relic comes with a removable right hand (the hand on the left of the holy heart symbol, as shown in image 10). To have found this 1920s bust in such remarkable condition was like the cherry on the proverbial pie, because it makes this rare antique one of the most remarkable bust sculptures of Christ that we have ever seen or sold. Its serene and spiritual look and feel will never go unnoticed and it makes this Christ bust an absolute joy to own and look at.

This incredibly well carved bust of Jesus is impressive both for its quality and its large size. With His head bowed down like in His final hours on the cross this design is obviously perfect for displaying on a tall stand. In this case a tall and ebonized wooden pedestal was used and thanks to the contrasting colors of this bust and its pedestal they are like a match made in heaven. The master sculptor / artist could not have done a better job in hand carving the exhausted yet serene facial expression of Christ. The large size of this bust combined with the rare sandstone material makes this work of religious art look extra ancient. Because of its size this archetype of Christianity can also be seen and worshipped from further away. Unfortunately we cannot read the name of the skilled artisan who signed this unique sculpture.
