About the Item
This remarkable mezuzah is hand-carved from authentic Jerusalem stone, originally part of the Western Wall. These historic stones, uprooted due to structural shifts over 70 years ago, were later repurposed to cover marble sinks used for ritual handwashing at the Kotel.
Renowned artist Gideon Bustani sculpted this mezuzah, preserving its raw, natural texture while intricately engraving a seven-branched Menorah, a powerful symbol of light, wisdom, and Jewish heritage. The base of the Menorah rests upon a stylized pedestal, evoking the sacred vessels of the Temple. Above the Menorah, the Hebrew letter "Shin" is deeply carved, representing "Shaddai," one of God’s sacred names, signifying divine protection. The upper portion of the mezuzah also features a detailed engraving of the ancient Western Wall’s stonework, further reinforcing its historical and spiritual significance.
Inside the mezuzah, a natural ruby stone is embedded—traditionally believed to offer protection against the evil eye. The back of the mezuzah bears Gideon Bustani's initials (GB) as a mark of authenticity. Accompanied by a gemological certificate, this unique piece is not only a testament to Jewish faith and continuity but also serves as a symbol of divine protection and a direct connection to Jerusalem's sacred past.
A truly extraordinary artifact, this mezuzah carries within it the history, spirituality, and resilience of the Jewish people.
