American Lightning Rod
About the Item
Examples of finials include spears, thistles, a spiked acorn, a sunburst and forked barbs. All of these accomplish their intended purpose which is to make it uncomfortable for birds to sit!
We have an assortment of original lightning rods with varying degrees of decorative embellishment. All are from circa 1870 with the exception of one aluminum tube rod from the late teens (circa 1917), the geometric shape of the amber ball showing the whiff of early Art Deco ideom.
Each is priced differently. For example, the most ornate ones with the weatervanes and balls are more expensive than the simple rod inside a tripod stand, adorned only with a spear finial.
Prices start at $225 and go to $1250.
These are wonderful decorative accessories for indoors as well as in the garden.

No longer in production. It is composed of two pairs of matching high- and low-back chairs and a conical table. We also have available separately a near complete additional Obelisk consisting of three of the S chairs and one M chair plus the table. Image 9 shows the complete Obelisk plus the spare table and chairs. Best of both worlds is to have the spare set for seating together with the complete Obelisk as sculpture, until additional seating is required. - Antique American Railroad Track Switch Target SignLocated in Forney, TXAn antique American railroad yard switch sign on custom stand. A wonderful example of both Americana and industrial folk art! Born in the US in the early 20th century, the large, double sided, painted red iron circular disc shaped "target" sign; mounted to painted black cast iron central pedestal standard; surmounted by hand hammered and chiseled raw iron three inch tall finial; rising from a later five spoke pentagonal black iron base, elaborately shaped, fan form with niche curved flowing lines. The central standard can unscrew from the base for easy transportation and storage. Versatile, use it indoors as a decorative accent and quick way to add color, rustic texture, dimension, and interest, or use outdoors to brighten up your space as a garden ornament or statue. Original condition but we mildly sealed it to preserve the beautiful, warm rustic patina that enhances it so much. Now stable, it won't make a mess or deteriorate, while retaining the unique character and charm that can only be aquired from decades of use, being weathered, naturally distressed, with old chippy paint, that's elegantly aged, rich deep red color It is a full size, authentic railroad iron target...Category
