An intricate and fascinating Industrial piece from London, England. English sharpening wheel with wooden drum set vertically on cast iron base with four feet with hand crank.
Identifying marks: in relief on either side of base: "KENT'S PATENT" in relief on molded metal plaque affixed to one side of drum: "KENT / PATENTEE & MANUFACTURER / 199 HIGH HOLBORN / LONDON", KENT'S KNIFE CLEANER, LATEST PATENTS 1895, 1902, 1903.
Dimensions: 19 1/4" W wheel, 11" D, 22" to end of crank, 42" H overall
Condition: Please see detail photos. There are various acceptable and appropriate signs of age and use including aging to the metal components, patchy areas to the finish and slightly loose elements. The Sharpener is being sold decoratively as the operating condition is unknown and the presentation is remarkable.
