Antique Working English Cast Iron Cheese Press Thomas Corbett of Shrewsbury 1880

About the Item

A rare antique and all original fully functioning cast iron English cheese press, by Thomas Corbett of Shrewsbury, circa 1880. This cheese press has just been fully professionally restored, To the top is an acorn shaped finial with the original brass pressure gauge below, reading in hundredweights (cwt). The press having three circular cast iron platorms to press truckles (cylinrical wheels of cheese) of cheese, two of the platforms move up or down & are operated by a large turning capstan wheel, they move freely and the capstan turns with ease. The sides of the press having a pair of corresponding acorn shaped finials and the press is titled in two places, the base marked "Thomas Corbett Shrewsbury Winner of 14 prizes". The cheese press was fully & professionally restored to period working condition, this would be a great working feature in a creamery, restaurant or even in your home!
