Automa Animato Tedesco Gabbia Con Uccellino del 1920 circa costituito da una gabbia rotonda in ottone dorato con al suo interno un uccello animato canterino su di un trespolo con un fungo alla base. Una curiosità da Wunderkammer, gli automi, i carillon sono sempre stati costruiti dai mastri orologiai per stupire.
Questa gabbia con uccellino cantante è un automa animato in ottone dorato realizzato nei primi decenni del 1900 dalla ditta Karls Griesbaum (1872-1941), vedasi il logo inciso sul fondo con l’uccellino, le iniziali K G e Made in Germany. La ditta fu fondata nel 1905 nella Foresta Nera, a Triberg nella regione del Baden-Wurttemberg, da Karls Griesbaum (1872-1941) figlio del noto orologiaio Mathias.
La gioia che offre la visione di questi automi che si muovono, cantano, si guardano, comunicano fra loro, senza alcun rumore meccanico apparente e come per un’arcana magìa, stimola la fantasia dell’osservatore offrendogli il senso della vita reale nel bosco. Nel nostro caso questa gabbia per uccelli ci presenta il canto d’amore dell’Usignolo maschio; il canto si avvia caricando la chiave sotto la base e si può arrestare azionando la leva sul bordo della gabbietta. La sincronia del movimento meccanico e del suono sono da considerarsi praticamente perfetti e sovrapponibili alla realtà. La ricerca di questo straordinario effetto di verità non virtuale faceva infatti la differenza fra un mastro orologiaio bravo ed uno davvero geniale.
Il meccanismo interno è costituito da diversi soffietti mossi da ingranaggi a molla traente ed è perfettamente funzionante. Lo stato di conservazione generale è buono, presenta segni di usura compatibili con la datazione di inizio Novecento.

Karl Griesbaum
Karl Griesbaum was born in 1872, in the family of Mathias Griesbaum, a clockmaker. At the age of 33, Griesbaum was running the workshop making micro-mechanics for such clocks. One day Mr. Rosenau, the owner of a trading firm in Frankfurt that specialized in jewelry and clocks, brought a Swiss snuffbox to Griesbaum to make a copy and adapt. For Griesbaum, this seemingly insignificant event became a turning point in his life and he started manufacturing music boxes and snuff boxes with singing birds and founded his firm named, Karl Griesbaum. At that time, the Griesbaum family produced boxes with singing birds of three different price categories. The most expensive boxes were made of polished metal, then came unpolished metal boxes, and finally plain brass boxes. He died in the year 1941.

Cornice da Tavolo argentata con Commesso di Fiori inizi 1900 di forma ovale con un profilo perlinato ed incernierato nella parte destra in modo tale da poter aprire la cornice che presenta due piedi ed una cimasa riccamente decorati da volute finemente incise nei bordi. La cornice di questa placca ovale è realizzata in lamina di ottone di buon spessore ed argentata con una marchio sul retro con le iniziali MV in campo ovale con figura di un martello al centro.
Il commesso è realizzato su lastra di ardesia o lavagna con l’intarsio di una rosa al centro e dei fiorellini di campo. Degne di nota le foglie verdi per le quali sono state scelte pietre dure con sfumature chiaroscurali naturali che danno una bella profondità alla composizione floreale.
