A simply stunning and beautiful example of mid-20th century design from the iconic German optics manufacturer Carl Zeiss. The RWDF (direction-wise Doppelfernrohr) 10 x 50 binocular Periscope was manufactured by Zeiss for the German military and used extensively during the cold war and notably along the Berlin Wall. This beautiful item ticks all the boxes with its design, style, scientific build quality and stunning looks. It will definitely be a talking point where ever its placed, whether it's your home, loft apartment, office, man cave, club, bar or restaurant. This all original 10 x 50 military-grade periscope is mounted on a gorgeous polished tripod base. The optics and quality of the image are as you would expect from Zeiss as they were designed for observational purposes with precision angled prismatic lenses. The whole piece is fully adjustable from 60° above the horizon to 20° below to enable the observer to look at almost any object whether on land or in the air. A quick release lever allows the periscope to rotate with a 360° swing. Other features include spirit levels, flip-down internal sun shield and external adjustable anti-glare hood. Top section without tripod measures 32 inches. With tripod closed measures 6ft. Absolutely vibration less observing with a unique resolving power and sharpness. The binoculars were sent to our professional polisher and the results are magnificent. The entire optical system is clear and clean, no scratches or turbidity, everything in stunning condition. Items of this quality are becoming increasingly rarer to the market as people that buy them keep hold of them and who can blame them!
