About the Item

Collection of Friedrich Ziegler wax model human heart development forms A rare collection of 4 wax models of the human heart, showing its early development to full size. The hand-coloured wax models show different areas of the heart that develop over time. The models show signs of age-related wear but considering their construction and fragility are in overall good condition, some minor cracks and repairs with loss is present as shown in the photos provided. The four models are safely encased in a 19th Century velour/pine base glass dome. It’s believed these examples would have been used in a medical School or the like. Size in inches: H 4.5” x W 4” x D 3” to H 3.5” x W 2” x D 2.5” Period: 19th Century Produced by Friedrich Ziegler Material: Wax Origin: EU Condition: Worn Condition Report 1. All 4 examples show natural wear and aging. 2. All 4 examples have repairs and visible cracks. 3. Missing detail and loss in present. 4. The wood on the dome is worn and faded. 5. The velour on the dome is worn and faded. Completely solid in structure and form yet fragile, a deep natural patina across the items due to age, artifacts that are old, so expect this to reflect in its condition.
