George III Oversized Magnifying Glass Late Circa 1790

About the Item

George III Oversized Magnifying Glass Late Circa 1790. Comprised of a turned mahogany surround holding 20 cm lens with a turned mahogany handle connected by a generous brass ferrule screwed to the base. This example retains most of its original lacquer to the brasswork and although it does crack in the surround but does not affect the funtionality or look. The finial on the handle has been professionally repaired to maintain its look. A very imposing magnifier which would have been used in either a Library or Gallery. H: 48cm W; 27cm D: 3cm
