About the Item

This rare and decorative early 20th-century Arts & Crafts wall barometer and thermometer is a striking testament to Dutch craftsmanship. Hand-carved from a single solid piece of richly patinated nutwood, the piece is adorned with deeply sculpted roses, poppies, and other floral motifs, emblematic of the movement's reverence for nature and artisanal integrity. The milk glass (opaline) thermometer displays both Celsius and Fahrenheit scales and is fully functional, framed by elegant floral carvings. Below, the circular barometer, marked in Dutch and reading “Veranderingen” (Changes), “Mooi Weer” (Good Weather), and “Regen of Wind” (Rain or Wind), sits behind its original beveled glass. Both instruments are encased in brass bezels and show meticulous hand-painted detailing. A true collector’s item, the back features a maker’s mark stamped into the metal plate, depicting a rearing stallion, suggestive of a regional workshop or artisan active during the Arts & Crafts period. This exceptional wall-mounted weather station is not only an instrument but also a sculptural piece of functional art. Perfect for collectors, design enthusiasts, or those seeking a statement piece with both history and utility. If you are looking for a quality antique to grace your living space then this fine example is great value for money. Also, when taken into account that perfect packing and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 5 workdays are complimentary. Maximum height x width x depth: 31.9 x 12 x 2.55 inches. Diameter of the beveled glass dial face: inches. Top museum quality carved Swiss barometer / weather station This antique barometer is not only about the actuality of the weather, it is also a true work of art and a real pleasure to look at.
