About

We have travelled all-over the world always on the lookout for early Dr. Auzoux Models. We found this and a smaller model on our last trip to Paris. Most are already in museums and private collections. Examples usually pass from collector to collector via word of mouth. They are an important part of medical history and amazing when you see all the painstaking detail. It's a must have on every collectors list. These models are made from papier mâché that's why few survived.
This is a 54 inch male model Auzoux made and very sought after. This example looks very complete with only a toe and finger missing. For a hand-painted paper model of this age most collectors would consider the condition exceptional. It was well taken care of. The body and parts are paper cache but it is all supported by an inside structure of heavy blacksmith iron. It sits on the original cast iron tripod legs.
