Late-1980s Dick Brewer Waimea bay big wave surfboard. Features a beautiful yellow tint with blue glassed-on single fin. An amazing example of a 1980s big wave "gun" surfboard, shaped by the renowned surfboard design pioneer Richard "Dick" Brewer.
Dick Brewer is a world famous surfboard designer and shaper. Brewer made a name for himself in the early 1960s surfing big waves in Hawaii at breaks such as Waimea Bay and Sunset beach. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s the demand for Brewer's innovative surfboard designs began to grow among professional and free surfers alike. Becoming best known for his big wave "guns" built to ride the heaviest waves Hawaii has to offer. Brewer shaped for various successful surfboard labels such as Bing and Hobie before establishing his own label, Brewer surfboards. The iconic Hawaiian plumeria flower logo has been used to distinguish Brewer surfboards from the rest since the late 1960s. To this day, the 83 year old Dick Brewer continues to make custom foam and balsawood surfboards for a select list of discerning clientele.
