  • Meissen Porcelain Dinner Service, 189 Pieces
    By Meissen Porcelain
    Located in New Orleans, LA
Comprising an incredible 189 pieces, this impressive Meissen porcelain dinner service is an exceptional example of the firm's prized dinnerware. The bodies are crafted in the New Brandenstein relief pattern designed by Johann Friedrich Eberlein in 1744, which gives this service a distinct Rococo feel. The hand-painted enamel detailing is known as the Flowers and Insects motif and is executed with stunning vibrancy and intricacy. Since each piece is executed entirely by hand, no two pieces bear the exact same adornments.

Similar, single dining pieces are featured in Meissen Domestic Porcelain by Günther Sterba, 1991, figures 83 through 86.

The pieces bear the Meissen blue crossed swords that date this service between 1850/60-1924.

Fine quality and condition, 1860s box with perfect working silver lock and key. This handcrafted spoon box is another one of our recent great finds. It comes with beautifully shaped panels and the interior of this box for displaying ones spoons is lined with green velvet. This rare box even comes with as much as 13 fully hallmarked silver spoons, one of which is a sugar shifter. It is difficult to get your head around how these objects were made. Creating flat pieces of this hard materials and cutting them perfectly and gluing them in perfect patterns onto wooden panels and putting the box together with handcrafted, silver hinges and putting a small lock in exactly the right place and carving circular bone feet etc. It is almost too much to take in and it must have taken an enormous amount of time to create this stunning box. These boxes therefore were only affordable for the very, very well to do. And this large shell box...
